ASMBS Integrated Health
Membership Committee

Published in November Issue

What has the ASMBS Integrated Health (IH) Membership Committee done for you lately?

The purpose of our IH Membership Committee is to act as a liaison for members to ensure needs of membership are being met by the society, address member concerns, review membership applications, assist applicants in the application process when necessary, facilitate the FASMBS program, stimulate membership, and ensure access of members to society benefits.

The ASMBS IH Membership Committee is continually working to seek the best benefits for our members. In early 2017, the committee sent a membership survey to current and previous IH members. In the survey, the committee asked multifaceted questions to gain better understanding of member concerns.

One concern was the inability to speak with leadership. Our ASMBS IH President, Karen Flanders, has been involved in committee meetings. Karen has taken an active role in all IH committees to ensure our members’ needs are being addressed. She has also expressed her willingness to go to state chapter meetings to speak aobut Integrated Health and has begun doing that in the fall of 2017.

Another concern stated was the cost of membership and/or the cost of annual conference. The committee spent several months reviewing membership fees of other professional organizations. The committee continues to ensure that our fees are competitive for the amount of services provided. A list of benefits is added at the end of this update.
