Integrated Health President's Corner

Published in January Issue

Several weeks ago the Program Committee met to plan both the ASMBS Weekend event and ObesityWeek 2018. I am very excited to share that both educational programs look very strong in course offerings and will appeal to the various needs and disciplines of our membership. Please mark your calendars now for ASMBS Weekend in NYC, 6/14/18 – 6/16/18 and for ObesityWeek 2018, 11/11/18 – 11/15/18 in Nashville, TN.

On another note, I would like to inform the Integrated Health membership of the recent resignation of Pam Davis, the IH President-elect. Due to a new employment opportunity, Pam felt she would not be able to fulfill her responsibilities as the IH President-elect, and consequently resigned from the position. On behalf of ASMBS and the Integrated Health Science Section, we thank Pam for her contributions to the Society as well as to the treatment and prevention of obesity (Pam has not left bariatric surgery and will continue her work in the field). Additionally, we congratulate Pam on her new endeavor, and wish her much success.

So now what? The IH membership will receive an email soon outlining the next steps for an IH President-elect replacement. We will have a call for nominations and hold a special election to replace this vacant spot on the Integrated Health Executive Council. Please watch your emails for more details – and please be sure to make your voice heard by submitting a nominee (from the nominee pool) and then voting.

Last (but not least), keep your eyes open for the first IH webinar of 2018, planned for 1/31/18. The topic of this webinar is Support Groups featuring psychologist Fran Brodeur, PhD, the co-chair of the IH Support Group Committee. Registration will open within the next several days.

As always… please feel free to contact me with any ideas, suggestions or comments for future consideration @
