2018 Marks 15th Anniversary of Walk from Obesity

2018 marks the 15th anniversary of the ASMBS Foundation's Walk from Obesity,
the Foundation's largest awareness program and the only national walkathon to bring attention to the disease of obesity. More than 670 Walks have been held across the nation, raising awareness of obesity and supporting scientific research, educational programs for healthcare providers and increasing access to quality treatment. Abstract Submissions Are Now Being Accepted for ASMBS Weekend

For the first time, abstract submissions are being accepted for ASMBS Weekend. This year's meeting will be held in New York City, June 14 – 16. The deadline for submissions is February 28. The 3-day clinical symposium is designed for professionals involved in obesity management with research focused on the basic science, clinical application, surgical treatment and prevention of the disease. Submit Your Abstracts Starting March 1st for the 35th ASMBS Annual Meeting at ObesityWeek 2018

ASMBS will soon begin accepting abstracts for its 35th Annual Meeting at ObesityWeek 2018, held in Nashville, November 11 -15. ObesityWeek is an international event focused on the basic science, clinical application, surgical intervention and prevention of obesity, and is the largest conference of its kind with a multi-track schedule with:

  • Oral abstract, video and poster presentations

Mark Your Calendar for Second Annual Obesity Care Advocacy Network’s Advocacy Day on February 27th

Tuesday, February 27th marks the Obesity Care Advocacy Network’s (OCAN) second annual Advocacy Day. Participants will meet with Capitol Hill staff to garner support for the Treat and Reduce Obesity Act (TROA). The day will conclude with a reception to honor a member of Congress who has championed better patient access and coverage of obesity treatment services. Prior to Advocacy Day, registrants will be able to participate in a webinar that will highlight the need for passage of TROA. Over 120 OCAN members participated in the first Advocacy Day last February — visiting 150 congressional offices to encourage support for TROA. To date, 143 members of Congress are supporting TROA. 7th Annual Your Weight Matters National Convention

Registration for the Obesity Action Coalition’s (OAC) 7th Annual Your Weight Matters National Convention will open March 5th. This year’s convention will take place in Denver from July 19-22. Participants in the four-day convention will have the opportunity to learn about more than 50 weight management and health topics from leading experts in the field, participate in exercise classes, connect with individuals in the OAC community and become more involved in helping individuals affected by obesity in their journey toward better health through education, advocacy and support.
