Save the Date: ASMBS Weekend Takes Place June 8-10
in San Diego, CA

The 2017 ASMBS Weekend will be held June 8-10 in San Diego, CA. The 3-day clinical symposium focuses on the basic science, clinical application, surgical treatment and prevention of obesity. This year’s event offers attendees more than 20 CME/MOC/CE hours of education with three full days of surgical courses, including sessions on bariatric flexible endoscopy and intragastric balloons, as well as integrated health courses. New “State Fact Sheets” Available from the Obesity Action Coalition

The OAC has introduced new “State Fact Sheets,” as part of its online educational resources aimed at helping people learn more about obesity and its effects within their own state. Each fact sheet has information on obesity statistics throughout different populations, childhood obesity facts, data on disease-related costs and more. The OAC also encourages people to use the fact sheets to reach out to local, state and national policymakers about increasing access to effective obesity care and treatment.

New Orleans to Host 6th Annual Your Weight Matters National Convention, August 10-13, 2017

The OAC will host its 6th Annual Your Weight Matters National Convention August 10-13, 2017 in New Orleans, LA. The 3-day educational event is designed to bring together individuals concerned with weight and health to learn weight management strategies from experts in nutrition, exercise and obesity treatment. In past years, the convention has covered more than 50 topics, including “the importance of a team approach in tackling post-surgery weight gain” and “understanding and managing food addiction.” Attendees of the 2017 convention will have the opportunity to hear presentations from world-renowned physicians, researchers and scientists focusing on the treatment of obesity. In addition to patient-focused sessions, YWM2017 offers continuing education credits to nurses and healthcare professionals.
