The Certified Bariatric Nurse (CBN) Certification Program Needs Your Help!

Published in August Issue

The CBN Practice Analysis subcommittee has undertaken a comprehensive review and update of the 2007 Practice Analysis of Bariatric Nursing. The Practice Analysis (PA) serves as the foundation for the Certified Bariatric Nursing examination, which, in general terms, is the “job description” of a bariatric nurse. Periodically, the “practice analysis” of a certification must be reviewed and updated. We are in the midst of this process and are in need of
your help.

A Practice Analysis Task Force Advisory group, composed of bariatric nurses with diversification in geographic location, bariatric surgical experience and practice area across the continuum of bariatric nursing care has reviewed the current literature and has given an expert opinion with regard to changes and updates. The next step is to obtain feedback on these changes from you, bariatric nurses who are practicing in the field. Feedback will take the form of the completion of a survey. We have sent the link to all bariatric nurses of whom we are aware, both CBN’s and those who are not CBN’s.

If you are a bariatric nurse and have not received a link to the survey, or have misplaced your link and have not completed the survey as of yet, please follow the link below to participate.

We want to include the experience of as many bariatric nurses as possible and as many practice situations as possible to be sure that the “practice analysis” represents the breadth of bariatric nursing.
